Salary Support for Medical and Surgical Oncologists at the Mater

The Foundation also provides salary support to attract and retain top-tier medical talent. Since 2006, the Foundation has supported Professor Fran Boyle AM, Director of The Patricia Ritchie Centre for Cancer Care and Research, through The Bill and Patricia Ritchie Foundation, fostering a unique private hospital and academic collaboration.

Since 2008, the Friends of the Mater Foundation has supported Professor Andrew Spillane's position as a surgical oncologist at the Mater and the Melanoma Institute Australia.  His contributions to breast and melanoma patient care through his research, surgical expertise and mentoring of future surgeons are invaluable.

In 2014, the Foundation, thanks to the generosity of the Juldon Foundation, established the Oncoplastic and Breast Melanoma Fellow position. This fellowship offers upcoming clinicians the chance to develop new skills at one of Australia’s leading clinical and research centres.

Since 2015, the Foundation has funded a clinical trials coordinator at Breast & Surgical Oncology at The Poche Centre (BSOPC), enabling a broad range of research projects aimed at enhancing patient treatments and outcomes.
