Empowering Cancer Research at the Mater

The Friends of Mater Foundation is committed to supporting groundbreaking research through our Annual Grant Program. The research grants help ensure the Mater Hospital remains at the forefront of patient treatment and care and offers Mater patients the opportunity to participate in research, which benefits not only Mater patients, but the wider community. By funding innovative research projects, we help medical professionals explore new treatments, improve patient outcomes, and work towards a cure, enhancing the quality of life for cancer patients.

The publication of research supported by the Foundation helps grow the Mater’s reputation as a Centre of excellence and innovation.

For over a decade, the Foundation has funded scalp cooling initiatives at the Mater, providing equipment and supporting education and international collaborations. This has positioned The Patricia Ritchie Centre as a leader in this area.  In 2023, with support from The Mill House Foundation, a new Paxman Scalp Cooling Machine was purchased for the Centre, ensuring patients have access to the latest innovations in cancer care.
